“Stephen is passionate about historical details and flavors in a home and all things coastal. We’ve come a really long way in our collaborations. It’s really neat what we can accomplish together. I listen to what is important to him and work to design what best reflects the themes and features of his homes. I do this by incorporating nostalgic flavors in the décor. I think it makes the spaces memorable and relatable. I have to be able forecast the future homeowner… design his spaces so inviting that buyers don’t want to leave without buying the home,” said Susan Wilson of Susan Wilson Interiors.

For the kitchen, shiplap was specified for the back of the kitchen island, Fresnel pendants “that add a nostalgic touch,” as well as glass tile from Daltile for the backsplash. The end result is a clean, sophisticated environment with a relaxed attitude.

For the dining room, Susan added an oversized fixture from Progress Lighting’s Orbitz collection over the table to help draw a visitor’s eye in the space.

After researching The Old Man and the Sea, Susan Wilson, of Susan Wilson Interiors, ordered a wood sign that features a handwritten quote from the classic novel. (Madison bath and vanity featured over the circular mirror.)
